CBS News reports that a representative for Whitney Houston has confirmed that the singer is in an outpatient program for drug and alcohol treatment. She says it is a voluntary measure and part of Houston's "long-standing" recovery process.

This won't be the first stint for Houston. She first entered rehab in 2004 and then sought treatment again in 2005. She announced that she was healthy and clean in 2009, when she released a comeback album, but there were signs of trouble during her 2010 tour: She canceled some dates because of illness and received negative reviews from fans who were disappointed in the quality of her voice and performance.

Back in 2002, Houston told Diane Sawyer, "I partied a lot. Trust me: I partied my tail off ... You get to a point where you know the party's over." That turned out to be a bit premature.

We have our fingers crossed that the treatment she's getting now will mean the party's really over when it comes to substance abuse, but picking back up when it comes to her career.
