The man with the golden voice, Ted Williams

MSNBC is reporting that Ted "Golden Voice" Williams and his daughter were detained by LAPD after getting into a shouting match in the lobby of the Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles. The LAPD confirmed for the Today show that the former homeless man known as having a golden voice was "transported" to a police station along with his daughter. The dustup was serious enough that hotel personnel called the police to intervene in what was described as a "shouting match." They were both released without charges. Williams, 53, reunited with his ex-wife, Patricia, and five of his nine children in a two-part episode of Dr. Phil that will air Tuesday and Wednesday, which is why they were staying in the hotel.

Williams, who has been sober for two years, had been living on the streets in Ohio for years after a drug and alcohol addiction. The man with the golden voice is obviously not having a golden reunion with his ex-wife and children, whom he abandoned years ago. Arguing to the point of police intervention will not solve anything. Hopefully he will maintain his sobriety and repair his relationships with his estranged family members. Behavior like this will only help to derail his self-proclaimed "deluge of blessings" from God. Let's hope Williams' uplifting story continues to be uplifting.
