Oprah Winfrey opens up about "Beloved."

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey is opening up about the failure of her film Beloved. Winfrey starred as a former slave in the 1998 film, based on Toni Morrison's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name. The film opened up against The Bride of Chucky and failed miserably at the box office. Winfrey says that the failure of the film sent her into a depression, which led to a "macaroni-and-cheese-eating" tailspin that added 30 pounds to her frame. Winfrey divulged the information during her interview with Piers Morgan, which airs tonight.

They don't call mac-and-cheese comfort food for nothing. In the words of Oprah, what we know for sure is that success is never guaranteed. "Failures" aren't always what they seem, and offer the opportunity for growth. Being able to bring a novel like Beloved to the big screen with an amazing cast and director is a major success. Embracing those factors instead of comfort food is better for the mind and the body.
