Orlando Magic guard Gilbert Arenas, formerly of the Washington Wizards, is accused by his ex-fiancée of abandoning her and their three children before his departure from Washington, D.C., the Washington Post reported Wednesday. Through her publicist, Laura Wright, Laura Govan claims that she has not heard from Arenas since their most recent breakup around Thanksgiving, accusing the three-time All-Star of also cutting off financial support. There has been no comment yet from Arenas or his agent about the accusation.

According to an e-mail statement to the Post from Wright, Govan "has not heard from Arenas the whole month of December," and she and the children "feel abandoned." Wright said that Govan did not have enough money to buy food or Christmas gifts. Wright has also worked for Govan's sister Gloria, who is engaged to Lakers forward Matt Barnes and appeared on the VH1 reality show Basketball Wives. Arenas told reporters that he had been staying with his Magic teammate and left so quickly after being traded that he didn't have time to say good-bye to his kids. Govan and Arenas, who have been off and on for years, were recently engaged in 2008. Govan was also rumored to have been involved in an affair with NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal that reportedly contributed to the demise of his marriage to Shaunie O'Neal, executive producer of Basketball Wives.

We're not sure why Govan is surprised that she hasn't heard from Arenas, especially when she's using a publicist and the national media to publicly embarrass him -- as if that's possible, after the gun incident last year. We know that Arenas isn't wrapped too tight, but Govan? No money for gifts or food for the kids? Sounds to us like she needs a financial planner. How can any adult with mouths to feed be that dependent on a man, especially one who hasn't married you? How sad is it to have that many kids by an NBA player and to not have the common sense to have a custody and support order in place. Even Kim Porter and Puffy have that. Not contacting his children is wack, but wackness seems to be the order of the day with these two. Sorry, Miss Govan -- we feel sorry for the kids, not you.
