Rapper DMX is back in jail.

Troubled rapper DMX is in the slammer again, this time for a parole violation. He was arrested for allegedly violating his probation by using drugs, including cocaine. Arizona officials say this is now the fifth time that deputies have arrested him. DMX (government name Earl Simmons) had served about nine months of an 18-month probation when he was arrested and booked in a downtown Phoenix jail. In an August 2007 raid on Simmons' home, police found 12 neglected dogs, three buried dogs, drugs and a reserve of weapons. The rapper served a 90-day sentence for felony convictions, including cruelty to animals, theft and two drug counts. He was released from jail in May. CBS News reports that County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose deputies have arrested Simmons numerous times, told the Arizona Republic, "The irony is that the dogs he's abused have done more time than this guy has done with so many different violations, including assaulting one of my officers," Arpaio said. "That's not fair." Comparing people to animals isn't fair either. What do you expect from someone who refuses to uphold laws against racial profiling? Who knew Arpaio was interested in fairness? Back to DMX -- what isn't fair is when regular people and celebrities like DMX develop drug addictions that they just can't kick. In the words of the late, great Rick James, "Cocaine is a helluva drug."
