Chicago Mayor Richard Daley Will Not Seek Re-Election

"I have done my best."

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley announced today that he will not seek re-election during the next mayoral election. The six-term mayor said that it is time to "move on" as he made his announcement with his wife standing by his side. Daley's announcement sets off a power scramble that has been stymied by his 21 years in office. Daley's wife has been battling metastatic breast cancer since 2002, and he has been under fire for a $655 million budget shortfall. "Simply put, it's time," said Daley, 68. "Time for me, it's time for Chicago to move on." The field is wide open. Wonder what Rahm Emanuel is thinking?
