Senate to Confirm Kagan's Nomination

The Supreme Court will have its fourth woman justice.

Elena Kagan is on the brink of becoming the nation's fourth-ever woman justice. The Senate is set Thursday to confirm President Barack Obama's second nominee, whose addition to the court will mark the first time three female justices have served concurrently. Nearly all Democrats, the Senate's two independents and a handful of Republicans are backing her. This will be the last action for the Senate before departing for a monthlong vacation. Kagan's nomination has not been without controversy, with Republicans accusing her of being unable to put aside her liberal views. Some civil rights groups are concerned about her shoddy track record on issues of diversity. Whatever your gripe, get on board, because this train is moving.
