Shannon Tavarez, an 11-year-old actress in Broadway’s The Lion King, has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. She is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Tavarez is African American and Hispanic, two groups that are underrepresented in bone marrow donations. DKMS America is having a bone marrow drive for Shannon on Sunday at St. Malachys – the Actor’s Chapel in the Theater District. Keeping her in our prayers.
