The Denzel Effect: Halle Berry, Samuel Jackson, and Will and Jada Smith Eye Broadway

Denzel Washington's successful run in Fences has Broadway buzzing with possible projects.


Call it the Denzel Washington effect, but a number of A-List black celebrities are slated to star in Broadway productions in the near future. The New York Post reports that Halle Berry may star in The Mountaintop, a new drama about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Samuel L. Jackson may also star in The Mountaintop. It is also rumored that Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith are being courted to star in a revival of A Streetcar Named Desire. Fences broke box-office records at the Cort Theatre and made a profit of nearly $3 million.
