SB 1070 Is Spreading Like the Plague

Copycat anti-immigration legislation is popping up all over the country.

Since Arizona governor Jan Brewer signed SB 1070 into law two months ago, politicians from 21 states have followed suit, pun intended. Legislators in five states including South Carolina, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Mississippi have introduced laws that mirror the one in Arizona. Did we mention that a Democrat, sponsored the bill in Rhode Island? Politicians plan to introduce similar bills in 16 other states including Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Texas and Michigan. Apparently the bills are the part of a concerted political strategy funded by the far-right group Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), which has taken money from a eugenics foundation and was created by a man who warned of a "Latin onslaught." We could go on, but we want you to be able to keep down your dinner. Looks like our boycott list will be growing.
