Uruguay Beats South Africa 3-0

The World Cup host team is close to being the first team eliminated from the tournament.

Uruguay handed Bafana Bafana, South Africa's national team, a loss that may push them out of the 2010 World Cup soccer tournament. The World Cup is being held on African soil for the first time in the history of the tournament. Bafana Bafana is considered a "Cinderella team" because of its soccer ranking (83 out of 100 teams).  Fans hoped that Bafana Bafana would capitalize on the pride and energy of representing South Africa in the tournament to score an upset. Instead of scoring an upset, it looks like Bafana Bafana and its fans may be upset about being the first team eliminated from the tournament. Uruguay has four points from two games in Group A and is closing in on a spot in the next round, while South Africa has one and needs to beat France on Tuesday to have any chance of staying in the competition. We didn't think that Bafana Bafana would actually win the 2010 World Cup, but we didn't think they would go out in the first round either. And as the first team? Get it together, Bafana Bafana.
