The concert portion of the evening was hosted by LL Cool J and featured performances by legendary R&B group the O’Jays, rising-star vocalists Leon Bridges and Andra Day, and the dynamic dancing duo Les Twins.

There was something a little extra special about this year's celebration, and that was the ceremony for Prince Rogers Nelson’s induction into the Apollo Walk of Fame. The ceremony featured a performance by members of Prince’s renowned the New Power Generation band, singer Meli'sa Morgan ("Do Me Baby") and a powerful speech by Prince's protégé Andy Allo.
